Renewable Energy Householders in the Sunshine State

Rooftop solar PV installations have experienced rapid and unprecedented growth in Australia. However, one issue that contributes to inefficiencies the electricity market is ‘solar rebound effect’ which refers reduction expected gains from eco-efficient technologies due an increase use of resource. little literature exists incorporates consumers’ cognitions into studies effect This study aims bridge a research gap by examining consumer perceptions after installing rooftop solar, along with psychological factors might play role mitigating effects. A quantitative methodology was adopted, pilot survey administered residents (n=68) regional city. Frequency distributions non-parametric tests were undertaken. The results indicate significant differences between those who report do not, relating such as thermal comfort, bill consciousness environmental self-identity. Implications for future practice are outlined paper.
